Of the 5, Gamma lived for 12 years and gave us a lot of happiness with his friendly nature. He took care of us in several ways. He could recognise strangers and go after them. He would alert us if he saw reptiles.
Gamma and Preiti our dog were the best of friends. They played together, and even went for strolls together He was very fond of our maid. He would knock at the door where she would sit for her studies and then jump up and sit on here books.
It was a sad day for us when he breathed his last. We will never ever have chickens as pets as old age does not suit them. They suffer in many ways.

Have you ever had chickens as pets?

No

I love chickens. If I keep them, there is no guarantee they will survive as pets.
After my experience I do not recommend keeping chickens as pets.
Why? In my case I will end up slaughtering them for meat.
My brother had a chicken as his pet when we were kids. He had trained her to sit on his cycle as he went cycling. she was a funny girl.
I can believe that They are intelligent and understand everything.
cute. i wouldnt mind having chickens for pets, but i dont have the room for them. i dont know if it is safe for the chickens to live with a cat.
We have had cats too and I do not remember any such accident.
I am sorry for your loss! Every pet is a member of the family.
It was a long time ago but I have fond memories of him.
Yes we have four chicken pet at home
Nice to keep them but their old age is not someting that they can cope with
Yeah I agree with you , there is one another problem , a wild cat live near my home , and she is planning to attack my Chicken pets and this is serious challenge for me these days.
That will give you sleepless nights.
Yeah , she has already granted me four nights
I really love my sister’s 3 hens which are free range, and I call them “Three little maids from school” after Gilbert & Sullivan, but these will talk to you if you walk across the field and will let you pat them as well.
I would love free range hens but our place is packed with cats…
After seeing how Gamma suffered his old age I vouched never more to keep chicken as pets.
I know how entertaining they are in their younger days.
Sorry to hear he suffered, I guess all mammals suffer through their lives but he was very fortunate to have people who loved him.
I hand fed him the last few days of his life I held him and petted him. He died in my arms.
He had arthritis and could not walk.
Sad, that many animals die…sorry to hear that.
He was 12 already and it was time for him to go but what I did not like was that he suffered.
I take the budgie to the vet sometimes and it is well worth it.
