I tried that ride at a young age. It was very interesting.
Do they still have them where you live?
We still have very few of them. They are used for tourist purposes.
That’s the way it is around here. The rides are very expensive, however.
Even here, driving is very expensive. This transport is usually used by foreign tourists.
Amazing find Gary, I rode in a carriage in New Orleans once.
My wife and I went there on our honeymoon. We saw the carriages but we didn’t ride on one. I did ride one in New York’s Central Park once.
Oh what a nice place to go for your honeymoon!
It was. Our hotel was right on Bourbon Street. We’ve thought about going back there but the crime has gotten pretty bad. It eased up after Hurricane Katrina but I’ve heard that it’s getting bad again.
I am with Doc, we all here think it looks like a Hearse.
I have to disagree. A hearse would need a door in the back for loading and unloading the coffin.
that almost looks like a Hearse. Great picture!
I’d agree with you but a hearse would have an door on the back to get the coffin in and out. It looks like the wagons you see in travel brochures about Amish parts of the country to me.
you are right of course! It just has that look and feel!
And being painted only black with no ornamentation adds to that hearse look.
it really does, kind of that ominous bad things happening look
Yes , it was almost 27 year ago
My ride was even longer ago that that. Probably 1972.
yes, I have been in a horse drawn carriage
Personally, given the number of people killed by drunk drivers, I’d like to see them brought back.
Horses often have more sense than people, I heard a man tell me he used to go to the local country pub and he rode the horse home, the horse knew where he was going in the dark.
The way people drive in Chicago when they are sober I can believe that.
I haven’t ridden in one but I would love to as long as the horses were well behaved!
They have rides here in Chicago and the horses seem to be very good. When they are parked you can go up to them and pet them.
