Dueling Matrioshkas

When I began doing renders, I went for a photoreal approach. There is nothing wrong with it and this is quite common, but as my command of the medium evolved I wanted to be able to get back to my fine art roots

Case in point- the original renders of the matrioshka series are as photoreal as I could make them, and were often mistaken for actual dolls. On the other hand, there is a fine art treatment of the same series; almost a postmodern approach. I thought I’d post both versions here and see which way you preferred…

    • I am also a fan of Russian culture, it features repeatedly in my work. I especially love their headgear; astrakhans, kokoshniks, ushankas… all featured in my art
