Do you have a capsule wardrobe?

I just read a post about capsule wardrobe. I have been reading about capsule wardrobe many times, but I didn’t really think about working on it, because I don’t think I have many clothes in my wardrobe. But I think it’s good to go and count how many pieces of clothes I have in my wardrobe. Sometimes we might not think there is a lot, but there is.

I am quite surprised to know that the term capsule wardrobe was started in 1970, by Susie Faux, the owner of a London boutique called “Wardrobe”. According to her, a capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don’t go out of fashion which can then be augmented with seasonal pieces (source). Some defined the number of pieces in the wardrobe, such as 37 pieces of tops, bottoms, dresses, outer wears and shoes, and these items can be rotated seasonally.

  1. Interesting piece of information on capsule wardrobes. I have never bothered to count the number of garments I have. The numbers are moderate though. 🙂

  2. One thing I have noticed about my clothes some that have lasted for years where they go out of fashion but come back and not once but more than once (lol)

  3. I like the idea of having clothes that match with each other, but I am not a big fan of the idea of minimalizing everything. Sometimes, it’s good to have options.
