Decorating Radovljica, returning to tradition and to the past.

We had pretty high temperatures today. So I decided to walk around the town of Radovljica. I also saw the decoration of the old town. This year, too, Radovljica returns to tradition and to the past. The bike is inevitably connected to the city, so the bike is also in the city’s coat of arms. What Radovljica and the bike have in common depends very much on who you ask. Some believe that there used to be a lot of wheelwright in Radovljica. The bike has been a symbol of development in the past. The bike meant progress, made it faster to work, easier to transport and last but not least, made travel easier. In Advent time we cannot but pass by the fact that the wheel, like a closed circle, also reminds us of an Advent wreath in which the circle symbolizes eternity. The wheel also appears as an ornament on the portal of the main entrance to St. Peter’s Church.

  1. What a dazzling decoration of lights. I thought at first it was Cinderalla’s carriage but after reading your post, I saw the bike. The fact remains is those shining lights are very pretty and twinkling like stars….
