Dalgona Coffee – Things That goes Viral During Self-quarantine

Recently there is something that goes viral on social media called the Dalgona Coffee. It becomes such a hype especially during self-quarantine because people spend most of their time at home and looking for something that can help them enjoy their time while stuck at home. Besides that, the process to make this drink is quite unique and challenging, so it makes people curious about this drink and even challenges others to make it.

Dalgona Coffee is basically a latte drink with a coffee foam on top of it. This term was introduced by a Korean after he saw the coffee foams that looks like Korean traditional candy called dalgona.

The ingredients to make this drink is far from complicated. What you need are ice cube, milk, instant coffee, water, and sugar.

First, you need to make the coffee foam by mix sugar, water, and instant coffee. You need to whisk it until it becomes a creamy foam. If you own a hand mixer then you can achieve it faster but if you want to “taste” the challenge of making the Dalgona Coffee then feel free to try using a regular whisk. After that, prepare a glass of milk and ice cubes then drop the coffee mixture on top of it.

I tried to make one and it tasted delicious especially after the hard work you put to make it (LOL). Also, if you are not a fan of coffee, I also see people tweak the recipe by using milo, chocolate, and matcha.

      • Well, we unfortunately failed …
I guess we didn’t use the right instant coffee, (or maybe its something else…) and couldn’t get the stiff foam(cream) … it looked really bad, so we didn’t even try drinking it … :/

We tried a chocolate one though (similar recipe), still didn’t get the stiff cream, but at least it look edible and tasted ok …
