We call them “corcoduse”. Google translates to me that they are Mirabelle plums. They are found in several colors: red, yellow or dark red. They are small round and very sweet when ripe. I took the picture a few days ago when I visited my native village. I was impressed by all the fruit-filled trees in my mother’s garden. It’s been 12 years since my mother died but the trees in her garden still resist.
I remember my mother used to make “Tuica” of these fruits. Tuica is a traditional Romanian spirit.
I’m sharing this photo with Color Crazy Challenge – RED this week. You may say that there is a lot of green in the photo but … the subject of the photo is red!

Oops! Wrong place for this comment!
Import of mirabelles to the United States is restricted as the fruit has a protected origin designation. Mirabelles can only be imported into the US from Lorraine, France, making true Mirabelle Plums almost impossible to get in the US.
I did not know that the US is importing such fruits!
I’ve had brandy and plum wine, but never tuica. how is it?
It is similar to Pălinca but with a lower alcohol concentration. Did you hear about Palinca? Pălinca is a traditional Romanian alcoholic drink obtained exclusively by alcoholic fermentation and distillation of a fruit or a mixture of fruits.I do not know how to explain better, because I’m not a beverage expert. Let’s say it is like Vodka but with a specific taste of fruit
sounds like a high proof sangria
They look so inviting.
I had picked up a turmeric plant from my mother’s garden years ago. It has now multiplied and we have loads of turmeric from these plants.
I would love to have turmeric in my garden! I know it’s very good for health!
It is nice to remember your loved ones through the seeds they have sown.
It’s nice and painful at the same time, especially when everything they left behind has become a ruin.?
Not familiar with these. We have plums here but not like this.
