I get a lot of Blue Jays on my deck. I feed them whole peanuts. I do not have a separate feeder. I add the peanuts with the sunflower seeds I have out for all the birds. The Blue Jays can be a little loud and aggressive for some birds. So I thought of getting a feeder just for their peanuts, separate from the other feeder. Maybe this will not scare off the other birds. And the Blue Jays will have their own feeder. Of course the woodpeckers and cardinals also like the peanuts. Maybe they could share and all get along. Just a thought.
We must remember to feed and water the birds all through the winter. Many of them depend on us for their survival.

Well well. This worked on finding a post I hadn’t seen. What a cool idea Carol. Love the picture too. I found this post from Ellies post about birds on Virily or of Virily post. Part one.
Your kindness has great benefits. You get to see such beautiful birds
We get Blue Jays in our area but not at our house. They tend to stick to the forest preserves. We used to feed the birds but our condo association now forbids it. Unfortunately feeding the birds in Chicago has the unfortunate side-effect of feeding the rats. The coyotes help but there aren’t enough of them to go around.
I think the whole peanuts have gotten their attention for sure. I counted seven this morning at one time.
The coyotes stay away here now, with all the construction I guess.
Carol you are very kind. I’m sure the birds delight in your generosity.
They flock to the feeder, I may need a bigger one. Thanks Bradley.
Great moment captured there!!
This is an example of a feeder I want to get.
Oh I see…the design is pretty unique!
I thought him “caught in action” is cool … lol
Yes I think it’s a great idea.
Very original and unusual bird feeder. I have never seen this type before. Do the squirrels get around it and manage to steal the peanuts? Did you come up with the idea? Or did you buy it ready made? Unfortunately, even if you answer all those questions, I will never be able to feed the birds as the other condo tenants will probably complain about bird poo or peanuts pieces on their little balcony. They complained about my feeding the squirrels because apparently the mice would get some peanuts and then find some way to get into the garages of the condo residents and leave their droppings in the garages. So I had to stop feeding my little furry friends. Boo hoo….I am not crying for my little friends but I am mad at the other residents…
I don’t have any squirrels around for some reason. No this is an example of one I saw in a magazine. Cannot take credit for this one.
You are doing great work .

Great idea … looks very nice
I may have to get one for sure.
We installed a new feeder just a few days ago, and birds are slowly starting to come.
Good for you Ellie. I am so behind on posts.
A lovely bird feeder and clever bird.
Maybe I’ll do the same.
Looks like a great idea.
No peanut feeder but I think someone in the neighbourhood must have one as I find peanuts hidden all over my yard in the spring. Must be the squirrels.
That is funny. I often wonder where the birds go with the peanuts. They get one and fly away.
You are doing great work apriciate able
