The Regional Ethnographic Museum in Plovdiv is the second largest Bulgarian museum of ethnography with established scientific and educational activity and an attractive center for cultural tourism.
It is housed in the Kouumdzhieva House – a monument of culture of national importance.
The first idea of creating an ethnographic museum dates back to the end of 1891. After a quarter century at the suggestion of Stoyu Shishkov, the local administration decided to create a Regional Museum. His main goal is to collect materials related to the past and present of the Plovdiv region in historical, economic, artistic and domestic terms.
The beginning was dated January 22, 1917, when a meeting was convened at the Regional Court (Plovdiv Municipality), where it was decided to “establish a Regional Museum in the Permanent Commission”. The Museum Rules were approved on July 20, 1918.
The exposition presents the traditional culture of Thrace, Rhodope and Srednogorie from the Renaissance period. In a permanent exhibition, agriculture and livestock farming are represented as the main livelihoods of the region’s population. Traditional crafts in the museum are represented by abbey, witchcraft, pottery, copper, ironmongery. The goldsmith’s workshop is exhibited with all its inventory. It is part of a collection of ornaments and church plates, traditional folk costumes, fabrics, carpets, musical instruments and ritual requisites. The city lifestyle is also presented.

I’m glad you like both options.
The museum is also beautiful in black and white. I would be glad to see this museum.
There are many interesting exhibits. It is worth visiting.
Excellent photos my friend. The detail is incredible in black and white.
I think that the beauty of the drawings is not good here.
For my taste it is colorful, even though it also has a black-bearded charm
In the colorful, the ornaments are better expressed.
Black and white gives it more character!!
Depends much on the original to get a good shot in black and white.
Black and white has it own beauty
I agree with your comment.
I learned something today (the museum founding is an awesome story!).
Love the black and white picture.
I’m glad you learned something new and useful.
