Back then, i traveled a lot. I was flying to Chicago that morning on a long turn flight. Back then the airlines would set up a short, and a long segment flight. What would happen was the first flight was short, but they would fully fuel the jet. It allowed them to do a quick turn at the bigger airport. Every single flight on 9/11 that was used to destroy, was one of those flights. All of them took off from a small airport and did a quick turnaround before hitting the ground (flight 93) the twin towers and the Pentagon.
The Indianapolis Indiana to Chicago, and then Portland OR, was such a flight. We landed in Chicago and that flight left for Portland. On the way into Chicago, we (my former boss and I were riding into town in the rental car) were talking. one of his employees called and said a plane just hit the tower.
We turned on the radio and listened. When we got to downtown Chicago that day it was a ghost town. I watched, in the lounge of our companies downtown Chicago office as they spent the morning talking about that event. I will never forget.
My sympathy with the martyr families , but many top people of the US says , this was an Inside job since such building cannot be collapse the way it happens on 9/11

I lost a friend that day.
One of my best friends in the world lost more than 20 former co-workers he had left the job just a month before ( in August).

I had been laid off my job about two months previously so I was still in bed when the first plane hit. My daughter woke up my wife and I and told us a plane had hit the World Trade Center. I assumed that it was a small private plane like the one that hit the Empire State Building many years before. We had a small TV in the bedroom so we turned it on in time to see the second plane hit. At first I thought they were playing a recording of the first plane but when they said this was the second one, I knew we were at war.
This will never be forgotten and even though I was not in the states then I had worked near there and knew the companies that worked in the towers.

I saw on tv the replay when that happened right on that morning of 9/11. It was like surreal to me.
I agree with you Alex, I think the whole world was stunned. The Americans played quite a significant role in your country’s history, in WW2 If I remember correctly.
I remember it well, will never forget it. Was at work when an announcement was made, we all crowded into a conference room to watch on tv. My son called me from home, they are sent home early from school.
