Kenny Rogers is no more, he died at the age of 81, on March 20 2020. He ruled country music between the 70’s and 80’s. This three time Grammy winner is survived by his wife Wanda and four sons.
I fell in love with country music because of him. His songs Lady , You and I , Lucille, The gambler , Coward of the county, Don’t fall in love with a dreamer are some of my favorites.
He retired from his singing career in 2018 for health reasons. His gospel music too has been among my favorites. Although I do not listen to any other kind of music these days other than gospel music Kenny Rogers is the exception.
He was also a song writer, actor, an avid photographer, record producer and a successful entrepreneur. He owned a chain of restaurants called Roasters. He wrote a novel co authored by Mike Blakely called, “What are the chances”.
This legend will be missed by all music lovers.

I love country as well but that was only after Kenny Rogers.
i would say my favorites start with him as a member of the first edition. Ruby, was an epic song!

Kenny Rogers Roasters was great for take out chicken!
We don’t have his food chain here. I found out that it is closed in the US but doing well outside the country.
he actually sold the chain to another group and they ended up closing all of them in the US.
So that is the reason behind the closure. Thanks for sharing this information doc.

I posted a few of his songs on the weekend. He was well loved.
He was much loved the world over.
He is one of the country music legends. I didn’t know he also sang gospel songs. My favourites are Gambler, Coward of the Country, Lucy and Vows (goes) Unbroken. I can’t remember the exact title of the last song.
You are right it is vows go unbroken, the lyrics are so beautiful. I wish people sang songs like these now.
I like all of his songs so I would hardly point out any of them …. his songs will be forever between us
Absolutely, It is hard to pick from such great numbers.
