Some parts of the country celebrate this day in a big way Nine days prior to the day children attend mass taking trays of flowers that are strewn in the church as a ritual to prepare for the event
On the day of the feast loads of Faithful will gather at mass and children in huge number bring flowers that will be showered at the statue of Baby Mary and the whole church is filled with flowers and petals.
On this occasion fresh paddy is brought by farmers that is blessed and distributed to the congregation. A few grains of that is had along with the meal which is mostly vegetarian

It is now getting global recognition
I was not able to go to church on that day.
I did not go either but celebrated it with good food
I have read about this type of celebration but never experienced.
Even here in India not all places celebrate this feast
