If you like turnips, they are also negative calorie, while being healthy. Turnips are good sources of vitamin C, B6, folate, and potassium.
Note here that these are only some of the negative calorie foods. There are more foods that take more calories to digest than the food contains. As interesting, all of these foods have a glycemic load index of under 5, which makes them excellent for diabetics.
I don’t think I ever even eaten a turnjp and thank you for writing this for me.
You’d probably like turnips. They have a texture similar to a radish; nice and crunchy. However, they don’t really get hot like radishes can just before they start bolting.
I am a fan of soups with turnips.
I know that quite a few people like eating them that way. I’m just used to eating them raw.
We always had turnips in our garden growing up.
I’ve grown them many times, especially since I also enjoy turnip greens. I don’t know why, though, but I haven’t grown any in several years.
Never tried them…I heard they could be a sub for potatoes though (missing them)
I can understand why they would be a good substitute.
I’ll have to give it a try sometime…cause mashed cauli was not good!
I’ll admit that I normally eat them raw, mostly because I like the crunchiness.
Well that’s good to know….Not sure I would like them raw….but worth a try.
my mother used to cook turnips and put in soups. so, i think these are more tasty when cooked.
Growing up, the only time we had turnips was on vegetable trays, so we only had them raw.
