This is one I never see. I am not sure if we even have them in San Diego. They sure are pretty, even though many think of them as pests. I really like their personality.

That is a really different Magpie, ours are larger and can be quite aggressive
Indeed, there are different subspecies, some magpies aren’t even related to this one, the Pica pica. I guess you’re referring to the Australian magpie (Gymnorhina tibicen). They have a nice plumage, but yes, I read they sometimes attack people. ??

They are shy creatures. I haven’t got a decent picture of a magpie for a long time.
