A dream come true! Jackdaws live in my city!
The jackdaw is my favorite bird, if we ignore the owls and eagles that are hard to find in the wild. It’s intelligent like most crows, but the white iris is what makes it special. I really hope I can make friends with a jackdaw someday.
I couldn’t take a clear picture, but you can see the eye.
It was holding something. At first, I thought it was a common crow (Corvus frugilegus) because his beak looked strange.
Later, a magpie tried to steal that piece of something from the jackdaw.
Stereotypes at their best.
Do these sound tropical? I think we have these. They eyes really give it away, aren’t they beautiful?
Well, they say ka ka ka but they sound like a mix between chicken, ducks and gulls. That’s how it sounds to me, pretty unique nevertheless. ? Yes, I was very excited when I saw the eye and could realize we have jackdaws! ?
So, it’s not the one we have here, I need to read up on these. 🙂
Yes, it’s pretty unique, I’m so glad we have this species here. ?
Great we don’t have this type of bird.
Lovely birds. Not very common in Moscow, but sometimes I see them here. They prefer smaller towns in our area.
That’s right. Well, I think I saw some in Turin, which is a big city in my region, but that could have depended on the neighborhood. It was a calm and green one.
Never heard of these.
I only saw them in pictures until now. They might not be found in the US, unless they were introduced recently.
