In 1971 our family moved to Bangkok Thailand. My father worked for UNESCO and we ended up traveling first to Ireland, than France and then finally arriving in Bangkok. The two weeks we spent in Paris were interesting in that it was a city I had read about for most of my young life.
My father and I were the only members of our family that climbed to the top of the Arc de Triumph, Napoleon’s great arch of triumph in the heart of Paris. A huge traffic round-about at one end of the Champs De Elysse a amassive street in Paris with lots of traffic.
The Arc, was something I truly had to see. It was fun to climb to the top then and once Again climb to the top when my wife and I were in Paris a few years later.
Here we are at the base in 2004 of the Arc. That is our friend Stacy talking to Barb (my wife). We had a great time wandering Paris on foot. There was a meeting in Paris for the company Stacy and I worked for, so on Thursday and Friday we were in all day meetings. Saturday and Sunday we wandered Paris on foot and recreated climbing the Arc (as my father and I had done then 30 before.). Paris is the city of lights, and it was a great experience to wander!
Amazing place!!!
I agree! Paris at night is magical!
love paris
It is an amazing city!
Sounds like a great time. That arch is wonderful. How do you climb it?
There are stairs in the two large Columnades. I don’t think they are open anymore. I suspect with all the issues that have been had in Paris lately, they are closed.
I bet they are closed now. I am glad you got to do it before all this mess. Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks – it was an amazing trip!
?
Thanks for posting, by the way…
So you got to see all the parisites? ?
No where near all (nice play on words there). But we saw many of the Parisites… 🙂
Sounds like a memorable trip.
It was an amazing trip. No where near long enough. My wife spent two days in the Louve and wanted to spend two or three more!
Very nice post
Thanks! It is always fun to share world travels!
Wow, you’re so lucky! I wish I can go to Paris too
We had a great time, I like Amsterdam and Copenhagen better, but Paris is nice.
