The Road from Napier to Taupo or Taupo to Napier is a very challenging road for any driver.
It takes 2 and a half or 3 hours driving with winding twisting roads going up in the hills or down. The Taupo end is higher up as the volcanic plateau.
This was taken as we nearly got into the Taupo district, and Warwick saw it first as a passenger, so I stopped and too several photos.
Nice mountains in the distance.
The Tongario National Park are those mountains in the distance, I hope to go closer to that place when I can.
Thanks Carol.
Beautiful countryside. The view is unique.
It certainly is unique and this is the clearest part of this road as most of this road is covered in scrub like plants…Thanks Vidocka
Lovely shot!
Mountain winding road sometimes give me a hard time …
Yes, it is quite tiring driving and you need to be patient as inattention can be fatal. As long as you drive on your side of the road pay attention and don’t try to speed in winding places too much you are OK.
Cant say I was entirely a saint because it is easy to drive a car too fast…but glad to get this stretch of the road over with.
Thanks so much for your kind comments Alibb
Welcome, Pamela.
I’m not a driver … I’ve more problem with motion sickness … lol
but I have to agree that driving safely and attentively is very important.
You were right this one is amazing! I always forget that NZ is like Hawaii and Volcanic in creation. I guess I don’t think it through at times.
Great shot!
Thanks Doc, I have not yet been to Hawaii but Hawaii is a lot warmer than NZ.
it is, a lot warmer. Near the equator!
But also volcanic in formation.
I wish I could drive on this road one day!
Well, it is quite scenic but it is a very long road. This is a good part of the road..Thanks Suny.
Those look like snow clad mountains Are they mountains or clouds?
These are snow clad mountains..Definetly mountains. Thanks Grace
