Matakana Detour

Ever go along the main road and see a by road and wonder what it leads to?

I am curious and this is one of those times.

Here is a country road of Matakana, north east of Warkworth in the Rodney District of Auckland. Its about 2 and a half hours from where we live in central Auckland.

#1 The Hills Above

That go down to farmland.

#2 Sheep may safely graze

We are just off the road taking photos. They are close by.

#3 Another hill.

You can see a track of the farm.

#4 Another hill joined

Obviously it was a forrest with pine trees recently felled for timber.

#5 Hill country and Ute

A ute is a farm vehicle.

#7 The road that goes up hill

Its a steep winding road and today didn't want to drive further up.

More to come on other parts of Matakana Countryside.

  1. I am always guilty of seeing that road leading to nowhere and wanting to explore. I have found some really awesome places doing that. Loved all the photos, theyre really lovely. It’s so pretty there. Autumn there now, and everything is still so green!
