A Coruña is the most popular Galician city, even though it is not the capital of the region. Its importance is mainly due to its location as it is a port city. It has about 247.000 inhabitants which makes it one of the biggest cities in northwestern Spain.
Even though it is quite windy and rainy city, A Coruña has a lot to offer to its tourists! Some of the most visited spots in the city are the Tower of Hercules which has an amazing view, the Roman Lighthouse, the Plaza de Maria Pita and the statue of the same located in the old part of the city as well as the port of the city.
The people from A Coruña are obsessed with sport. Their local football team, Deportivo A Coruña, plays in the first devision. Its stadium, Riazor, is the temple of the sport in the city and it has an amazing location by the city beach.
One can enjoy the city by simply getting lost through the narrow streets observing the picturesque architecture and the unique style of the buildings. Once upon a time A Coruña used to be the administrative center of the region before they changed it for Santiago de Compostela back in 1982.
Thank you so much! Even though I am new here I really enjoy doing this ?
It is fun to follow your journey, Elena. What is the meaning of the menhir stones? Is that something new?
It’s part of some museum nearby the Tower of Hercules. The whole place has an amazing view and it reminds on Stonehenge somehow. It’s so wonderful!
Because it reminds of Stonehenge then I ask. That’s wonderful indeed. thank you, Elena
I like the photos and it is like I am also traveling by just looking at them. c”,)

This is a great piece about A Coruña, Elena. I’ve been to Galicia a couple of times, but have never visited this port. Next time, perhaps!
The south of Spain is still my favourite but this city I liked quite a lot! Check it next time! I do recommend it!
I agree about the south. I adored Seville. Oh and Granada 😀
