My 1st Flying Lesson- part one

In 2014 I had just turned 60 and saw an opportunity on Grab a Seat to go and learn to fly, from a flying school in Ardmore. This 1st lesson was affordable, so I took the chance and learned about how pilots fly. I flew a Cesna with a young pilot of 22 yrs, that had more flying hours than most commercial pilots. He had $100,000.00 student loan debt to repay.

I liked all the people in the flying school and it was a great experience. Highly recommend it. However, my size of the wallet will not allow me to learn to become a pilot but I was grateful for this opportunity.

This is part one, hopefully more to come

    • I need more than just one lesson to be a pilot, you need to be very wealthy to train to be one in New Zealand. This is way out of the range of my wallet. Even if I did gain a pilots licence, you can’t get a job as a pilot in New Zealand, you have to go overseas to do that.
The guy who taught me for the day was 22yrs old, and having to pay back a $100,000.00 student loan, which has to be paid back

      • Oh I thought it was lesson 1. Well still, I know you loved it. Its easy to fly while up in the air huh? I got to try that several times, my feet wouldnt yet touch the floor or I wouldve talked him into letting me try a landing. lol
