10 exceptionally beautiful mountain towns worth visiting

Imagine you wake up in the morning from the soft rays of the sun, look out the window, and there … mountains. Large, majestic, snowy peaks. I am almost sure that you would not refuse such a holiday. This time, I decided to tell about ten mountain towns, whose inhabitants can admire the mountain panorama every day. Take a look and maybe this year, during the winter holidays, you will travel to at least one of them.

Queenstown, New Zealand

The first on my list is Queenstown. It's a small spa town on New Zealand's South Island. Queenstown is surrounded by mountains near the Gulf of Wakatipu Lake. This small town is very cozy, but together it is absolutely viable. There are many tourists from all over the world who enjoy Queenstown Spa, canoeing and climbing up the mountains, skiing, hiking around the area, jumping with a rope, having weekend tours to the street markets, and try local dishes.

Cortina d’Ampez, Italy

Another spectacular mountain town - Cortina d'Ampez located in the northern part of Italy, surrounded by the Dolomites-Alps. For this reason, the town is often called simply "Queen of the Dolomites-Alps". Undoubtedly, the town is famous for its enormous natural beauty. There are many tourists who go hiking or enjoy skiing. However, the architecture of the town of Cortina d'Ampez is also immensely fascinating. Narrow streets, small Italian cabins, magnificent church dating back to the 18th century.

Whistler, Canada

Are you a winter sports enthusiast? If you've ever been in Canada, I recommend going to Westerly. It is located on the western coast of the country, on the foothills of the two mountains - Whistler and Blackcomb. It is a spa town, which simply adores the skiers, snowboarders, mountain bikers and other travelers who love active leisure.

San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

The city of San Pedro de Atacama is in the northern part of Chile on the plateau of Atacama, is an important tourist center in northern Chile. First of all, because of the fact that it can boast of the traditional architecture of clay houses. There is also an archeological museum in which you can see the mummies of the primitive people and the tools of work.

Hallstatt, Austria

The Halstadt in Austria is a small town that looks like a postcard. Small cozy lounges on the shore of the lake, the narrow streets and the picturesque Dachstein mountains surround - what can be more beautiful. Interestingly, the town of Hallstatt is associated with the early Iron Age. Hallstatt Town, along with other objects around it, is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Cuzco, Peru

In the southern part of Peru, the Cusco, located in the Andes, is a city which was built in the 11th century. founded by Incas. Therefore, even today there are abundant of fortresses and temples reminiscent of the Incas. However, the Spanish conquistadors, who in the 16th century conquered the Inca Empire, destroyed a considerable part of the spectacular architecture, robbed the gold and silver details of the decor. Today Cusco is a city where you can feel both the greatness of the Incas Empire and the Spanish mentality. Not without reason, it is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Wengen, Switzerland

Switzerland is a country famous for its romantic, fairy-tale mountain towns. One of them is the Wengen, located at the foot of the Alps, over a kilometer above sea level. Wengen is a popular Swiss resort. The town is famous for green alpine meadows, its breathtaking mountain air, green alpine meadows, cozy residences, gourmet restaurants, boutiques, high snow-covered Alpine peaks and, of course, great skiing trails. For travelers, this town is attractive both during the summer season and in the winter.

Anssi, France

Anssi is a city in eastern France. It is located at the foot of the Savoie Alps, near the northern shore of Anssi Lake. Often this city is called "Savoy Venice". It can boast of a medieval old town. The beauty of the lake, the transparency of the water, the alpine peaks in the distance, the cozy streets of the city, the canals, the power of entertainment and valuable architectural structures - Anssi is a city that leaves its guests a great indelible impression.

Aspen, USA

Aspen in Colorado is not a simple city, surrounded by fabulous beauty in the mountains, but also one of the most luxurious ski resorts in the United States. Interestingly, in the 19th century, Aspen was once the most productive silver mining region in the country. However, due to the economic crisis that occurred at the end of the century, the silver mining industry fell, and most of the mines were closed. During the Second World War, tourism began to be developed in this city, and at the end of the war, Aspen became a well-known ski resort. The city boasts not only spectacular mountains of beauty and excellent skiing trails but also vivacity. Every year there are many tourists coming here, so the city boasts life all the time.

Kuecalan, Mexico

Kuecalan, in the east of Mexico, is a small town located in the mountains of Sierra Norte. It is a very cozy village with plenty of small houses, narrow, stone-stretched streets. Well, and the surrounding area is a wonderful beauty. Kuecalan is surrounded by tropical rainforest and coffee plantations. In this region, there are abundant exotic plants and waterfalls.
