Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett not a fan of the police

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett made some waves on Wednesday claiming the Las Vegas Metro Police used excessive force on him after the conclusion of the Money Fight between boxer Floyd Mayweather Junior and UFC fighter Conor McGregor on August 26.

Bennett claims that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time in Las Vegas when the police responded to a shooting in the area where Bennett was at when what appeared to be a shooting in the crowd where Michael was standing.

Bennett who has made noise about his dislike for the police but refusing to stand during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner before the start of football games as a form of a protest that led by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick last year.

Bennett claims that one police officer pointed a gun at him while another officer placed his knee on the back of his head while holding a gun and using profane language and making threats to rub him out if he moved. Then the police officer handcuffed him and put him into the squad car before he was identified as Michael Bennett the football player and he was released by the police.

What makes me laugh is that Bennett probably has never watched any television shows like “Wildest Police Videos” or seen interviews by former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke who like Bennett is Black explain police procedures in handling potential criminal acts.

Since there are have been attacks on police officers around America, policemen as far I know are like a brotherhood where they watch each others back on patrol. Harming one of the police officers is a very dangerous deal since that is when the police develop a mean streak dealing with criminals during arrests.

I was not there in Las Vegas at the time of the incident after the Money Fight but since Las Vegas is nicknamed “Sin City” and with the police officers having to handle a huge sporting event maybe the officers who allegedly violated the civil rights of Bennett may have been nervous dealing with Bennett or maybe they have an ax to grind with the Seahawks defensive end for his gripes against them.

I would like to know if the Las Vegas Police will respond to the allegations of Bennett that the officers involved may have used excessive force or is Bennett trying to get some attention for his cause.

Okay so not every police officer around the world is the second coming of Barney Fife who was acted by the late actor Don Knotts (1924-2006) but for the sake of argument let us both sides of this incident that happened in Las Vegas to determine if the Las Vegas have a few rotten apples on their payroll and it would behoove them to punish them if they indeed use excessive force on a National Football League player who is already making enemies for exercising his right to protest for cause he believes in.

  1. He was the biggest tallest person running in the direction away from where it happened they weren’t sure whether he was a terrorist or a fleeing person. so they took no chances he could have been purple green or yellow

    • I have had contacts with the police in Louisiana and they always have to deal with anyone they meet with caution because they do not know if I am just an average Joe (Latino and White) or someone who is on the Most Wanted List. Even though my feelings of the police that some of them are jerks, most of them are nice people if you obey them and do not tick them off by being a wise guy.

  2. This is very disturbing as to his true character and lack of integrity and honesty. I would worry that he will make up something bad about anyone to cover his incompetence or other embarrassing flaw of character he has.

    • I guess Michael does not know that his political stances of defending Black Lives Matter who have issued hate comments at the police would come back to haunt him. There is a saying that goes “The people who hate are the people the same people you have to business favors with one day.”
