The workout: Run Amuck

My sunday morning started out with me knocking out laundry with an anticipation of getting an outdoor workout in due to the rise in temperature. It was actually in the fifties this afternoon, so I had the option to either ride my bike downtown or run on one of the beautifullest trails that I have in my repertoire of workout spots around Chicago.

I love how mother nature teases us at times during winter, giving us a taste of what’s to come in the upcoming months, yet knocking us back into reality the next few days with our current seasons temperatures. I always like to say “I would be a fool if I didn’t get out and take advantage of the weather we have today”. Getting in my car I had plans to head towards the lakefront trail near my old neighborhood, Edgewater. It wasn’t until driving like 200 meters when I decided to run Fullerton Woods Trail, which is were I did majority of my training for Detroit Marathon last year, but little did I know.

The closer I got to the trail, the more I started to think to myself I should start leaving my trail running shoes inside of my car in case I have moments like this again.

This trail run was an adventure; a fun adventure at that! Truly a run amuck! While running anywhere, but on the muddy trail I kept pulling my tights up every 100 meters ran, hehe. Not the first time that I have had malfunctions with my tights falling down while in motion and probably will not be the last. Times like this I enjoy the fun things about running with no particular goal in mind, yet solely just to have fun. I wanted to go 3 miles, but with the condition of the trail as well as my tights falling down I kept it at 1 mile out and 1 mile back; ending shortly over 2 miles.

In closing, I learned not to run on a trail in the midwest during the winter months, even if the weather the weather permits it! I also learned to not wear tights that do not have a sturdy enough waistband. Smh!
