Often these beautiful birds turn up at unexpected times.
This was taken at Sanctuary Mountain in the Waikato area by Mt Maungatautari. It was one Quail and there were other Quail with him.

I don’t think I would want to be that bird. It has this thing dangling in front of its eyes that is always there and can never be chased and caught up with!

I love to watch quail. They always seem to be so busy doing something.
Thanks Ghostwriter glad you like them, in Auckland we don’t see these Quail a lot but our hosts in Rotorua were greeted morning and night by hungry Quail.
Often when a bird is that fancy it is a male and the females are much plainer. Do you know if that is the case here?
