Unusual and Weird Things ~ Part 3

Decided to share 25 unusual and weird things with you.

Of course there are probably millions of unusual and weird things to be found in the world.

But I narrowed it down to 25 I wanted to share. They are all very cool.

Here is the first and second parts in case you missed them:

Unusual and Weird Things ~ Part 1

Unusual and Weird Things ~ Part 2

I will continue with part three, listing four at a time, adding photos for your entertainment.

#1 Steam Towers ~ Northern Lights

Steam towers of gas and steam from fumaroles create an amazing view. Geomagnetic storms produced the auroral display in the starry night sky while ghostly towers of steam and gas venting from fumaroles danced against the eerie greenish light.

Would love to visit the Northern Lights one day.

#2 Crab Migration

More than 120 million red crabs can be found on the rain forest floor of Christmas Island in Australia. Red crabs live alone in dirt burrows, or deep rock crevices. Crabs stay in the shade of their dwelling for most of the year. In October or November, when the wet season is about to return, crabs begin their migration to the shore. This timing coincides with the lunar cycle and the tides.

#3 White Rainbow

White rainbows, which resemble normal rainbows with the color leached out, emerge from fog that is thin enough to be pierced by sunlight. Often, an observer can see a red or bluish tinge at the edges, while color in the middle is wiped out.

#4 Hair Ice

In some forests on humid winter nights, peculiar ice crystals form on rotting wood. The ice looks like bursts of hairy cloud, and sometimes a bit like candy floss. It is neither. These hair-like wisps appear at night and melt when the sun comes up. Scientists have now discovered exactly what gives "hair ice" its strange shape. It's caused by a fungus called Exidiopsis effusa.
