We got the call. There is another funeral to plan, another headstone to design, thousands of tears to fall, and all those stages of grief over and over. Everyone is sleeping and I am just taking a moment to get my thoughts together before I go and deliver the news. They will know as soon as they see my face.
Again we will have to have two funerals. One that is fitting for a church service for part of the family and one that is completely void of any mention of God or religion for part of the family. We will bury him as close as we can to his sister.
Tell the people you love today how much they mean to you. Please choose kindness at every turn. Never leave “I love you” unsaid.
I better wake them up and then start making the phone calls.
Such moments make us wonder the meaning of our lives.
