When people think of autumn fruits, they usually think of apples, quince, or grapes. Many forget about the pomegranate, one of the most beautiful of the autumn fruits.
My neighbor has a pomegranate tree, and I never realized until this month how beautiful it looks with the fruits hanging on it. In the photo you can see one perfectly shaped fruit. You can see parts of others hidden behind and beneath the leaves.
The pomegranate is more valuable nutritionally than either the apple or the grape. It is loaded with antioxidants and phytochemicals that can help prevent cancer and reduce inflammation in the body. It is a good fruit source of fiber, protein, Vitamin C and Vitamin K, as well. Best of all it tastes good — if you are willing to use the trick to release the sweet fleshy seeds from the bitter pith that surrounds them. If you haven’t learned the trick, there are also kitchen gadgets made just to release the arils (pomegranate seeds) so they will be easy to eat.
Do you like to eat pomegranates? Have you ever tried one? If not, why not?
Enjoy eating ripe pomegranates in autumn, know that they are rich in vitamins. Thank you so much for your interesting article!!!
I like their flavor, but I’m not supposed to eat seeds.
Nice picture …My favorite one fruit pomegranate….
I don’t eat them very often, but I enjoy them when I do.
They do not grow with us, but I buy them at the store
That’s how I have to get mine, too.
While I can no longer pick them, (Michigan does not grow Indian apples, Love apples or Pomegranates), I still eat them when available. and drink Pom by the gallon. Absolutely great health benefits!.
Good grins to see you here! Wink, grin n’ tail fin…>-=^;>
I’m happy to meet you here again, too. Sorry you can’t grow them.
Well, all things are relative, I’ve more wild blueberries, June berries, strawberries and cherries than I can swim a fish at. SpLaSh!
Those are easier to eat. Enjoy them. A berry in the hand is worth more than pomegranates in the sea? Sorry, I just couldn’t help that.
Ha! Very funny. Two mutant tuna doing the Frugg in a tutu n’ hula hoop is worth more than six squids playing footsies in a hot skillet? SpLaSh! grin, n’ tail fin…>-=^;>
I never cared for these but my Grandmother loved them, brought back great memories!
Love or hate eating them, they still look beautiful on the tree.
I agree that it is one of the most beautiful fruits! I like drinking pomegranate and orange juice.
Do you mix them together?
Yes! I think it’s a wonderful combination. 🙂
I never would have thought of trying it. Thank you.
My Favorite one Fruit Pomegranate.
Nice picture and interesting post!
