Coffee Talk: LockDown

tasartcraft started a challenge called Coffee Talk. It is about talking about our thoughts over a cup of coffee, but a cup of tea or hot chocolate would work as well.

Today I want to talk about the LockDown that is affecting our world. Someone I know has a mental disability, and I have kept him from coming over due to the lockdown. I need to know I am doing the right thing. he hates being alone in general. My sister’s job is working in research in a hospital. She told me he should stay away during this crisis. I tried to explain it to him ane doesn’t understand. I offered to get him groceries, but he told me he can walk and get his own.

What do you think? His mental issues are hard to understand for me, but I have always tried to have him over to visit several times a week, but during this time of crisis I feel he should stay away. Your advice would be appreciated a lot. Thank you! I pray this crisis ends soon.

  1. That’s a difficult situation indeed. It seems hard for him to understand the lockdown, but isolation really has a severe effect on people’s mental state. Maybe talking on the phone could help. And if he can, even video calls could be better. Stay safe!

  2. Being a mental health professional I would say your level of comfort is important, if you are not comfortable , he is not going to be comfortable either. It may not really help even if you are doing the right thing.
