tasartcraft started a challenge called Coffee Talk. It is about talking about our thoughts over a cup of coffee, but a cup of tea or hot chocolate would work as well.
Today I want to talk about the LockDown that is affecting our world. Someone I know has a mental disability, and I have kept him from coming over due to the lockdown. I need to know I am doing the right thing. he hates being alone in general. My sister’s job is working in research in a hospital. She told me he should stay away during this crisis. I tried to explain it to him ane doesn’t understand. I offered to get him groceries, but he told me he can walk and get his own.
What do you think? His mental issues are hard to understand for me, but I have always tried to have him over to visit several times a week, but during this time of crisis I feel he should stay away. Your advice would be appreciated a lot. Thank you! I pray this crisis ends soon.
That’s a difficult situation indeed. It seems hard for him to understand the lockdown, but isolation really has a severe effect on people’s mental state. Maybe talking on the phone could help. And if he can, even video calls could be better. Stay safe!
Being a mental health professional I would say your level of comfort is important, if you are not comfortable , he is not going to be comfortable either. It may not really help even if you are doing the right thing.
Thank you tasartcraft for sharing your thoughts.
i think you have to consider the situation carefully. you, always need to do what is best for you and Ray, Stacey and your daughter in Florida. That has to come first.
Thank you Doc, so far this person has stayed away. I hope this virus problem ends soon.
it is going to go for a few more weeks.
I hope he has a professional he can see soon my friend.
I agree Carol, he will not answer calls or messages. He think he should see other. I have to do safety first.
In the meantime, we should avoid contact with others and stay in the apartment. I understand the people who were left alone during this time.
Thank you vidocka for visiting.
More than ever, everyone needs to be isolated in their own home. Don’t let anyone come to visit you these days.
Except I have to go to work due to people needing food.
There is nothing you can do during a crisis. He then needs medical staff.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts lacho59. I pray he gets through it somehow.
