I posted an image of the pot that makes the coffee that gets me started in the morning. Now that cup my family gave me a few years ago Father. It is a badge and an honor to be a father. But it is also a job. It has many rewards and long hours of doubt and concern. You wander a path that isn’t lit isn’t marked and often isn’t a path. But there are those little children following you that you have to take care of, protect.
Then one day you turn around, and they aren’t children anymore.
Father.
I drink from a mug that calls out my position. It isn’t a fancy mug with gold plating and platinum handles. Just a simple ceramic cup with my title on it.
It is my favorite.
It is special indeed, the writing on the rim grabbed my attention.
My kids got me that mug a few years ago. It is my favorite mug!
Oh yeah I can imagine it is not an easy job to be a father — still if you have given it your best shot, believe me, your children will forever see you as the best they could have regardless if there were times when you did not make the perfect decision. The love they are receiving from you is more than enough to cover everything. And I am speaking as a daughter
I think father is the best and worst job anyone can have. Best because you get to pass on what you’ve learned. Worst, because even though you made the same mistake, you can’t stop them from making that mistake!
Hahahaha yeah that is true but it is nice when parents just allow the children to live the way they want to and just provide guidance and love
Agreed. It is, however, extremly painful to watch. Sometimes when you know there is a chasm in front of someone you just want to say don’t walk so fast.
