365 Day Photo Challenge Day 144

Baltimore Maryland is still a commercial harbor, but it is also a wonderful place to wander. Today’s picture of the day is my 44th straight without a thumb! (after the terrible debacle that was the 100th picture in the photo challenge of well, just my thumb). The image of the sailboat was one I tried to capture several times, so I have a few copies of different angles. I liked this particular one the best. The picture came after we had reached the furthest point of the cruise and had turned around towards the inner harbor. Behind us was the Francis Scott Key Bridge and the outer harbor. The outer harbor is the commercial harbor where the container ships and cargo ships come to unload.

We were sitting in the front of the boat by a couple of folks from South Dakota who was in town to run a couple of running races (the one they had run that morning was for the Baltimore light festival. The day before they had run the Cherry Blossom Festival 10k. We had a blast talking to them as we wandered the inner harbor. They were calling people in South Dakota while we were traversing the harbor. Their houses, family, and friends were all buried in snow at the time. Somehow knowing that made me feel a little better about our slow spring. I also felt horrible for the people in the Upper US Midwest that got dumped with snow in the middle of April.

Anyone can join the photo challenge! Just snap a picture and share (they picture has to be less than 7 days old)!
