Just like that, it is back. Yesterday was not April Fools on the water; it was Captain Lars returning from his wintering in my office to his domain the boat Labs Lair Too. We moved the boat from winter storage to summer fun yesterday. Honestly, with the full enclosure (canvas and plastic covering the entire boat), it wasn’t cold. The bay was smooth, not choppy although as we were cutting across the bay, we could see the incoming rain storm.
Last year we left winter storage at 11 am and got to the main around 1 pm. My poor wife had to sit at the dock waiting for us for nearly an hour. This time, my daughter and I, knowing where we were going with more confidence, were able to go nearly full speed for the boat. We had to go a total of 20 miles; my poor wife had to drive for nearly 55 miles. We ended up beating her to the Marina by about 20 minutes.
Ah boating season, I missed you!
