Sometimes I just need that extra pick me up in the form of an energy drink to kick my ass into gear. Prior to this workout I took an unexpected nap because it ended up raining and rain typically puts me in a relaxed state of mind.
[After workout picture] – Stormy weather hindered me from using my phone which I use the GPS feature from Google play store . I didn’t have my fanny pack with me in order to keep it from getting wet, so it left me with using my Garmin watch. In order to make my workout my workout fun I utilized the interval feature on my watch. The interval feature allows me to set a certain distance and repeat that distance for the number of times of my choosing. I kept it easy in order to not strain my muscles, yet still increasing my stride in the process.
Plyometrics
- Jump squats
- Frog jumps
- Star jump
- High jump
- Rest
- One leg jumps
- Back & forth squat
- Skaters
Following my run I did a plyometrics workout which kicked my butt! Never again after a run because most of the plyometrics exercises involved me jumping either side to side or forward and back. My legs were already fatigued from the run, so I didn’t put much effort into the workout. Plyometrics is a good cross training workout to do, but never following an actual workout involving the legs.

I wasn’t familiar with plyometrics but it sounds interesting, I am going to take a look at some workouts.
Good leg workout. It’ll have your legs toned up going into the summer. Its something you can do indoors too
That’s great to hear!
That sounds like more jumping around than I would like. I am, thanks to your example signing up for the 10k in the DC area this fall. I am below 2 hours walking the 10k now!
For us older folk, it adds caution not to tear that achilles. I did them in slow motion so that I wouldn’t tear anything.
i would be the one to tear my Achilles!
I have this visual stuck in my head of this mom tearing hers after doing similar workouts. It keeps my pace in check, so that I don’t get too much into the movements.
i have a friend that runs triathlons he says to stay away from the cross fit stuff. So I do!
Cool. Its something to strive for.
i am planning on cutting my time a good 15 to 20 minutes from where it is now
Are you going to be power walking fast like the pros.
no far from pro speed. My goal is 14-minute miles. The pros make it down to 9-minute miles power walking.
Now that is one helluva walk
it is almost a jog! I am sitting at 1759 now!
Oh damn. By the time you are done I have already ran a 26.2 mile run, showered and ate lunch. : ) Lol
Good for you once again Thomas. Stay safe.
The best videos of pylometrics are from Bellator’s Michael Chandler. He does a lot of different stuff when he is training
It is one helluva workout when you do just that. Once our gyms open up Im going to pick a solo day just for either HIIT or Plyometrics. I’ll look his videos up.
They are crazy – he puts them up on his Instagram. He does a lot of stuff with box jumps and medicine balls.
That would be fun to add to my gym workouts.
The legs get all the smoke during a plyometrics workout. Didn’t want to tear the achilles
We want the smoke! Street Profits all day!
