Paintings of Light

The late afternoon sun paints the garden in light. What once was subdued becomes dramatic, it is the photographers job to capture and explain that light. It is often illusive but always beautiful.

The older I get and the longer I photograph and paint, it seems I have been able to see light more distinctly. I used to photograph images and they would seem flat and pale, now I shoot light and the object is modeled by that light.

I’m beginning to see colors in their most intense hues. I don’t even seek them anymore, it seems like they find me. Much like painting suddenly finds that sweet spot where the artist knows what needs to be done without think, like words seem to form from raw thought, such is the light that paints the garden.
