Here I am just messing around with some asphalt textures, because you never know when you’re going to need some, and I’m the sorta fellow who likes to be prepared. Think about the future…

I found a tennis ball that looked like the second one yesterday in a waterfall. But really, it now looks to me like a planet in outer space..

It’s funny because when I need a texture or background or whatever I go out with my camera and find something I might use. I photograph it different ways and change it in the “digital darkroom” which in reality is a $30 software. Anyway, the second one reminded me of a quince that sat on the ground all winter and I took macros of the surface. Haven’t used it yet but it is grotty to the max.

totally. I used to capture my own textures, but it is difficult to generate all the support maps I need from photos…

I’m doing flatwork and it is a different world. Nothing has to wrap, move,… photomontage is pretty casual next to renderings and stuff. My friends used to use RenderMan. Computers were slower and they would set them crunching numbers for days. I may be an accidental Luddite. 🙂
