The photo was taken at the Illinois Beach State Park in Zion, Illinois (Lake County). This is located on the shore of Lake Michigan approximately five miles south of the Illinois-Wisconsin border. Since you can’t get down to the water at this point, it’s all large rocks on the other side of the wall, it makes a nice place to sit and watch the waves. Although you don’t see them in this photo, there were some nice waves the day I took this photo.
The photo was taken using a Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera. I used Macphun’s Luminar for Windows 1.0 to apply the ‘Image Enhancer’ preset.

Lovely shot you got Gary! Did you use any edits on this photo?
I used a program called Luminar for Windows 1.0. It gives you a bunch of filters to play with and includes presets which are combinations of filters and settings. For this photo I used a preset called “Image Enhancer”. It darkened the bench and the sand, increased the contrast a bit and did a little sharpening. In my experience, and I’ve read this from professional photographers also, almost every image needs some tweeking.
Oh ok. How long did it take for you to learn this program Gary?
I’ve had it for about a month. It’s pretty simple. The Windows version is in public beta and can be downloaded for free. https://macphun.com/beta
Nice shot!
Thanks, Georgi
