This is another in the series of children on the beach. I loved making sand castles myself and seemed only natural that kids all over must also like it. I tried to keep the children’s faces turned on purpose so that people could see whoever they wanted in the painting. I don’t know how many paintings I did this way and had someone come up to me and say “that looks just like my son when he was…,” even though it wasn’t of his son. Leaving things vague sold more paintings than I can count.
What do you think?
I am reminded of Christopher Robin. Not sure which illustrator it was, though…
I so agree with laving the faces such for viewers to identify with the children… lovely!
