Brutal and cosmic, the modern architecture of Skopje after the earthquake

Due to the catastrophic earthquake that happened in 1963, and destroyed almost half of the buildings, Skopje, the capital city of Macedonia, had to be rebuild. The winner of the international competition to redesign and rebuild the city center was the Japanese architect Kenzo Tange. And what he left is contemporary architectural heritage of enormous importance, because no other city on Earth has so much plenty of such buildings of brutalist architecture. These buildings are  characterized by geometric themes and raw concrete. They are really worth seeing. Enjoy!
