Hawk owls look like they are part hawk and part owl. Like hawks, they also hunt during the daytime. Their call is also unusual and they have several. One of the calls is a screech similar to the sound hawks make. Rarely, it also has a soft hoot. Then there is this twittering call that is among the most common of the sounds it makes.
Like many owls, this one is more apt to be heard than to be seen, but most people who hear it wouldn’t think that they were listening to an owl.
Owls are nice birds, but it’s a bit strange sound.

Beautiful sound, never heard before
The sound is quite un-owl-like. I’m sure that there are a lot of people who have heard this and never had any idea that they were hearing an owl.
