I love birds of all species. The Blue Jay usually only visits during the winter. I put out a deck feeder with peanuts for the cardinals each winter. And this also attracts the beautiful Blue Jay. Their color is stunning. They are a large crested songbird with a broad, rounded tail. Blue Jays are smaller than crows and larger than robins. And they are most often detected by their noisy calls. I remember seeing one chase my cat years ago. They are aggressive birds.
I took these few photos this morning from inside my patio doors. I hope to get outside and get more later. They are skittish so it will be a process to get them used to me and my tripod. I have a tree full of both male and female blue jays right now. Such an exciting time at my deck bird feeder! More of those little things in life I always talk about.

Blue Jay at feeder
So cool to see this beautiful bird at my deck feeder. He was checking out the peanuts in the tray. He would get one in his mouth then fly away to a tree to eat it, then come back and do it again.
It might be helpful to start getting them accustomed to your presence around them by putting up your big poster or photograph with the camera and putting it near that tray!
That is a thought, thanks!
Such a beautiful bird!
Thanks Ellie, they really are beautiful.
