Much water has flown under the bridge since the creation of this old and faithful grinding stone. Yes we have all the modern gadgets that we use but have never given up using our grinding stone. This was gifted to us by my husband’s grand mother when we just got married. It travelled all the way from our native place to the city where we once lived. We brought it with us when we shifted to this semi rural town.
The liquidiser is nothing compared to what this grinding stone can produce and the best part is the stuff never gets heated up. Ofcourse one needs to have a maid around to use it and we always have one .

Certain old devices produce the best result
I don’t remember seeing that grindstone being used when I was young although I know that my grandparent had that.
I still use it more out of sentiments.
I sharpen my knives with stone. There are things I like to use, no matter when they were in fashion. Practical things take place in my house.
That is the way to go. Upgrades just because they are available is what many go for.
Well, a lot of things we still do in my life is old to some. I still hang washing on the line which is outdated for some americans and also hand wash my dishes, as I don’t have a dishwasher.
I do not have a dish washer either as the big vessels like the pressure cooker and that where food gets stuck at the bottom a dish washer will not help
My sister used to cook a lot and had a grinding stone for her spices.
Was the grinding stone the same as you see in the photo?

Oh no, super lovely, how old is it? I have a simple stone grinder just for onion and garlic, I will show later.
May be 100 years or more but I am not sure. .
