Memory or lack there of is a constant conversation in our home for obvious reasons. We have tried several things. One of the funniest things we tried are Mnemonic Reminders. One method we tried was Name Mnemonics. In a Name Mnemonic, the 1st letter of each word in a list of items is how you remember the whole list. We could memorize the 1st letters with a bit of effort, and never once did we get the whole list correct. We are going to give it try with just 5 items later today. (We have to do something that feels mentally productive – it’s been a rough week.)
I do better if I put something to music and my family says to stop that because apparently I am often off key. I get the item right and I guess the tune is atrocious! If I am going to use this method I must sing very quietly.

I have the best system ever for remembering things.
just forgot how to do it…
thanks for the laugh right out loud comment. Needed it this morning.
I figured having read many of your posts that you were struggling. we are here for you!
I was in Bangkok last week and we took an elephant ride. They are giants but tame.
Wow that sounds like a fun thing to do. I am not sure those wild animals are really tame.
I keep lots of lists and reminders to read those lists.
oh yeah, read the lists again and again. I knew I was missing at least one thing.
I think finding links between info is a good strategy, one thing lets you access to more information, it’s like a web, so I guess the trick you shared makes sense and may be effective.
Music is another good one! ? Echoic memory seems stronger than the visual one, I don’t know why, it might be that hearing is the first sense we experience (while in the womb) and the last (while dying), so it is more developed. But again, just guessing.
I am going to have to look into that information.
Memory pegging is one of my favorite ways to remember.
What is memory pegging?
I find that a key word helps me remember people’s names. For example, the name Hayden. Not a typical name for sure. I remember “Hey!”; and that helps my husband remember the name. I now know it; but he always forgets it; so “Hey!” helps him out.
That sounds like a great idea.
