Golden-crowned Kinglet Feasting (2008-11-01 10-52-10a)
Golden-crowned Kinglet – Order Passeriformes : Family Regulidae : Regulus satrapa
The photo was taken at Montrose Point, Lincoln Park, Chicago, IL. using a Panasonic DMC-FZ50 with an Olympus TCON-17 tele-extender. It looks like he’s munching on a large fly or bee. I used ACDSee Ultimate 10.2 to adjust the lighting, sharpen and boost the contrast, vibrance, saturation and clarity.© 2008 Gary J. Sibio. All rights reserved.

Very lovely photo of an amazing bird.
What a lovely little creature. You’ve taken this shot superbly! How close was your lens to take a clear shot of it?!
‘Such a cute bird and a great capture!
Thanks, Ellie. I’ve only managed to get two photos of them in my life.
Well done! Nice post!
Thanks, Georgi. I’m glad you liked it.
Nice looking small bird with the yellow coat.
Yeah, I really like these little guys.
I like birds as well since a lot of them come to the backyard to rest during the day.
Such a cute bird. Looking at the photo makes me smile. I know I have never seen one before. I did not get a chance to run out with my camera today but from the window by which I write on the PC I saw a big bird with huge wings circling here in Florida and I thought it might be a hawk. Perhaps next time I can get a pic of him. Looked fantastic against a blue sky.
Thank you very much. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
There are some large birds in Florida including two species of vultures and two of pelicans. There are also egrets and cranes.
What a beauty he is Gary. Never seen on of those before.
We get them in wooded areas during migration season. Besides the Golden-crowned there is also a Ruby-crowned Kinglet where the spot on the top is red. Unfortunately I don’t have any photos of them. Both species are hard to photograph because they refuse to sit still.
