Russian salad

It’s hard to imagine any festive table without a famous Russian salad. Widespread in the whole world, this delicious meal has been on the menu of almost all restaurants and families for over a century now. Napoleon’s main cook Anri Olivier was remembered as the creator of many famous deacons, including Russian salads. According to quite different stories, the Russian salad was created by certain Lusien Olivier, the chief master of the renowned “Hermitage” restaurant in Moscow, served the guests with a salad, which soon became a trademark of the tavern.

What we eat today as the original Olivia Salad is just like his. Everything that was too expensive was replaced by more affordable foods, and, to a bit, a “French”, or Russian salad, was prepared today. A cheaper version was an inevitable meal at ceremonies in Soviet Russia. Over time, salad from Russia began to spread throughout Europe, today it is being eaten all over the world – in Iran, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal …
