From this photo, I chose for today’s post, street lamp
The notion of public lighting dates from the end of the Middle Ages, but it is found especially since the modern era. However, it was not easy to reach what exists today. An interesting fact in the history of public lighting is that in May 1857, Bucharest, (Romania’s capital) became the first city in the world whose public lighting was made with lamp oil, and on November 12, 1884, Timisoara, another city in Romania, became the first city in Europe to have a fully electric lighting system.

Interesting background about public lighting, and a nice photo too.
Thank you! The picture was taken during a festival.
Beautiful photo, I love the lamp and the lights. I recall Dad telling me the old lighting in NZ homes was gas lamps or oil lamps…Not sure how they came about.
The oldest known method of public lighting is that of Ephesus. They were actually candles placed in lanterns.?
Beautiful picture. I love the old city streets.
Thank you, Vidocka! I live in an old city and I can say that the streets of the old cities are full of history!

I was not interested but I can check it. I have a lot of posts today, but tomorrow I will join for sure because I like it. If I had to choose, I would point out the counties on the street. I like the photo.
