Here is Thursday’s reflections…Panmure Basin is a crater lake and it is right next to Mt Wellington in East Auckland.
You can walk around a circle around this crater lake and there is a water entrance from the Tamaki Estuary that is water from the Waitamata harbour.
When the tide is out it is like the plug is out and you are left with mud flats. Mud flats have crabs small shrimps and small fish and crabs and other livestock. They feed other creatures. Also mangroves which takes in salt water and it does that by being saltier inside than the sea water. Nature or ecological food chain

Wonder what the history is of these craters. I saw them while on my visit there.
So many thousands of years ago Auckland was a hive of volcanic activity, to be honest much of New Zealand has a violent volcanic activity.
New Zealand is sitting on the Pacific and Australian geological plate.
Refreshing time of reflective thinking for self improvement is very special. Especially when you’re sitting in the midst of nature, isn’t it?

i am assuming an inactive volcano?
Dormant volcano Doc. Most of Auckland volcanos are dormant, which means the volcanos are sleeping.
However, it is possible a newer volcano can be created from a Lahar of an existing volcano, not likely today but possible.
Thanks – was a little worried you were walking around the crater of an active volcano!
