Snow Flake Euphorba

This is  small bush and a relative of the poinsettia. It blooms around Christmas time. These blooms have a lovely mild smell.  It doesn’t take too well to pruning and if  not pruned it could have long straggly branches that look very messy.

I wait every year for the flowers to bloom .  It happens usually when the nights get longer and the temperatures drop . This plant often fails to bloom when there is no significant difference in  temperature between day and night.

When the bush is in blooms the leaves seem nonexistent. The  flowers drop their petal overnight and these look like snow flakes, hence it name.

  1. You seem to have a miniature Garden of Eden.

I have not seen this flower but I have something called euphorbia which has orange flowers and the plant has many thorns.
