Something that has long been a curiosity of mine is how so many writers are also either musicians or singers. Writing is a talent. Playing a musical instrument is also a talent, as is singing.
It is also true that most people who sing or play musical instruments are quite often of the belief that they aren’t nearly as good at it as they really are. This is also true of writers and writing. When writing, we are only using 10% of normal face-to-face communication. Other people can’t hear our voice inflection or see our body language and facial expressions. That accounts for 90% of our daily in-person communication, though most of us aren’t aware of it, consciously.
The reason I mentioned that is this. If you can write something that other people can clearly understand, you are a good writer, whether you know it or not. Many people can’t do it.
Likewise, if you can sing or play a musical instrument, you are doing something that a huge number of people cannot do. It doesn’t make any difference if you are ready to do it in a concert or not.
I should explain that I’ve been writing since 1962. I also sing and play the piano, guitar, organ, keyboard, autoharp, trumpet, accordion, and sax. I don’t feel that I do any of this particularly well, but there are plenty of people who disagree with me.
This leads to the questions and the assumption is being made that everyone who answers also writes here, so you are all writers.

Though some people may be more talented, I think we can still learn how to sing or play any instrument by practicing. I learned piano when I was young. I am not at all good at playing piano, but when I practice more, I think I can at least play a bit better.
Practice is always valuable. However, I do know people who are tone deaf and who have no sense of rhythm.
I love music very much … when I play radio all day long … I also sing something, but only for my soul that nobody can hear me … I can not play any musical instruments
Thank you very much for the comment! You might be surprised at how good you are at singing, though.
It has already been verified that I am not a particular talent hahaha
I love music. I played in the band in high school. But never sang.
What instrument did you play?
I am a singer when I am taking shower only , well I wanted to learn Villon and Guitar but could not fulfill my dreams
You are never too old to learn. I’m still learning about music, despite over a half century of singing and playing.
