This may come as a complete surprise but the Capuchin friars of Italy had a whole lot to do with it ‘Cappuccino‘ takes its name from the Capuchin friars: the color of the espresso mixed with frothed milk was similar to the color of the Capuchin robe. … The Italian word for this distinctive hood, cappuccio, gave rise to the Italian name for the order.

Thanks for sharing this. It’s interesting to know that. Cappuccino is always my favorite coffee.
Hi, Kaka135, I’m glad you found this interesting, Thanks for reading and commenting.
Well, now, that’s great to hear, TAC, I love the cup as well. Thanks for commenting on my post. 🙂

I used to drink these years ago. Good coffee.
So have you stopped drinking coffee altogether?
Very interesting! Cappuccino is my preferred way to drink coffee.
I like it too but must admit, it would be too much of a chore to make it myself. Besides, enjoying a cup made by a genuine Barista adds to the enjoyment for me.
I have a mini milk foamer at home that helps me make it very easily, but I enjoy spending some time at cute cafes too.
Shhh, Ellie, I’ve got one too and make them too, but where’s the fun in that? 😉
It is actually fun to me. I’d love to have my own cafe someday, haha
I love coffee in all tastes. Thanks for sharing interesting info. I didn’t know that.
I thought folks that like coffee will like the story, I also did not know about it. Thanks for reading and commenting Vidocka. ☕☕☕
have you ever read Mark Twain’s Adam and Eve, The story of how things were named!
this is a great piece, Andre. The reality of how names come to be is always interesting!
Salutations! Thank you, Doc, I agree. Did you know just how influential the family name Capucine really is in Italian folklore?
i have to admit that the nuances of European names are not something I spend a lot of time on. I do enjoy learning about it though!
I actually have this short humorous book. The first half of this short book was absolutely excellent. Eve is a free spirit determined to enjoy and bring order to the wonderful Garden of Eden. Adam is a curmudgeonly misogynist who thinks Eve talks too much and should give all this naming of animals and plants a rest.
The second half of this book is throw-across-the-room frustrating and annoying. The scales fall from their eyes, Eve fancies Adam like mad and falls in love with him. They marry and forever after she subsumes her individuality completely, and is absolutely dedicated to being an entirely submissive good wife to Adam, even willing to die for him. Which, according to Twain, together with motherhood, is the absolute zenith of a woman’s life.
Twain wanted better for his daughter than society would allow. Hence the ending of that story.
Oh, of course, I got that about him too, crafty old codger! Him, I mean.(lol)
very much so, always one step ahead
I just checked, Amazon for copies and, by the price of a used copy, I have a new respect for my dog-eared piece.

there is something about a dog eared copy of a book. I have a nearly dead copy of the Hobbitt that I read to my children. My wife says throw it away, but I cannot. It is marked!
Do an Amazon search and check out the value of your Hobbit, you might just pull your marked copy a little closer when you see the cash value.
i have a first US edition of The Hobbit and LOTR, they are in a sealed container so they do not decay.
i would never sell them!
i am taking a break from coffee for a while because it is dehydrating my body.
Yeah, Fifi, I drink gallons of the stuff, ain’t dehydrating me much, especially around the gut! 😉
Sometimes for a change I also drink cappuccino only with us you get it with hot not cold milk
Hello Lado, my friend, I get both versions, hot or cold milk of Cappuccino in my country too and I like them both. Thank you for commenting on this post. I hope you will join me in writing my next post, Let’s Write A Colab Thriller.
I looked at your posts and also commented on some, my friend
I noticed, and thank you for it. I will return the kind gesture.
