Walking Through Fire

Trials and tribulations are a part of life. It sometimes does feel like walking through fire when we go through some of the difficult areas of our life. The Bible often talks about being tested in fire and purified in the flames. It did sound like a cruel thing to me at first but then unless gold goes through fire  the impurities mar the quality and the value of the ornament. When gold goes through the fire the refiner who puts it through the fire doesn’t take his eyes of the gold, because if he does then the gold will turn into ash and become worthless. He needs to monitor the temperature very carefully.

Our purity, value and strength is often revealed (sometimes even to ourselves) when we have gone through a period of testing and have come out unscathed. It gives us the courage to take on all that life throws at us. The steely will power and the ability to go through tough times without being afraid or running away from it gives us more confidence in our selves and our ability.

Fire burns and destroys things, but it has its own value, it bends and makes things pliable, it makes things edible, it clear out wasteland , it provides the heat we need etc. However, it is up to us to make good use of the fire. It is our perception that matters most. It is how we put it to use it that makes the fire a destroyer or a life giver.

This photo was taken by me when we had a bonfire. Just looking at this picture has taught me many lessons about life. It is among one of my favorite photographs.

  1. With every blow I have had in my life I came to realize that I could take it because my soul mate was by my side. Now through the tough times, I am alone and I tell you sometimes I wonder how to go on but I only have one choice and that is to go on.
