Tuberoses have a very strong small and these flowers are normally used to make wreathes that are placed in coffins here in India..
Each time I smell a tuberose it takes me to funerals I have attended of near and dear ones. These days I do not go for funerals as I just cannot face all that sorrow and sadness that permeates in that atmosphere. I pay a visit to the mourners later offering them whatever support they need.
It is strange that these tuberoses are only used for making wreathes.

In our country we have a flower that is associated with funerals or graves.
And if that has a strong scent then each time one smells it that will take one to funerals one attends.
It has a very strong and special smell
With us, chrysanthemum is the flower that is the most traditional funeral flower
Does that mean these flowers are only reserved for funerals?
Exactly … these flowers are more or less intended for funerals … we also have a feast – on November 1st we celebrate the Day of the Dead and even then we carry these flowers to the graves
We too have that day when the dead are remembered.
And on this day, chrysanthemums are the most sought after flowers
Red roses with a strong fragrance , I couldn’t get the smell out of my system for years after my mom passed on.
So true. Perfumes linger on whether sad or happy events.
Carnations seem to be the most used flower at funerals here. I suppose it is because they last the longest.
I do not remember the smell of carnations. Do they have a strong smell too?
There is no particular flower associated with funerals in our community but I know this custom in your community.
In my place, the most common flowers for funerals are usually blushes consisting of several types of flowers such as red roses, jasmine, ylang, white champaca, plus slices of pandanus fragrant leaves.
I notice in that mix there are several that have a strong fragrance and that fragrance gets associated with funerals.
Yep! You are right about that, Grace.
